chutney music

May 29th, 2005 · Comments Off · Music

Thanks to MetaFilter, I’ve discovered a new kind of music I was unaware of: Chutney Music. I love Bhangra but this is very different, more like a Hindi version of Soca.

F*** LinkSynergy

May 25th, 2005 · Comments Off · Web

A few days ago I was considering whether to drop the iTunes Affiliate program. It looks like that decision was made for me. After going through LinkSynergy’s re-registration process, I received the following email:

We regret to inform you that iTunes has chosen not to accept your application for the iTunes Affiliate Program at this time. [...]

How to stay motivated

May 24th, 2005 · Comments Off · General

Via Lifehacker:
Work-at-home web designer Jason Santa Maria published a great list of ways to keep motivated when your “office” offers “a picturesque view of a sink full of dishes.” In a nutshell - know when to get busy, when to step away from the computer and stay organized in between. Maintaining Motivation [Jason Santa [...]

iTunes affiliate program

May 23rd, 2005 · Comments Off · Web

I’m thinking of dropping the iTunes affiliate program since I make very little from it and I really hate dealing with them. The program, along with .Mac & Apple Store is administrated by LinkShare, not directly by Apple. Did I mention I really hate LinkShare? They reek of spam marketing and they’re always trying to [...]

Toby

May 19th, 2005 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

My neighbor’s cat Toby has been lost since Sunday night and we’re all pretty worried about him. Toby is very friendly but he’s probably scared & hiding. We put up lots of signs and everyone is looking for him. It’s amazing how many orange cats we have in the neighborhood that look like him.

Kernel Panic

May 19th, 2005 · Comments Off · Macintosh

I just had my first kernel panic since upgrading to Tiger. There was nothing mysterious about this one. It was a result of ejecting a CF card in iPhoto after importing photos and removing the card before the system fully unmounted it even though it was already gone from iPhoto. For anyone interested, see the [...]

Niobara

May 16th, 2005 · Comments Off · News and Politics

Via Daily Kos: A great post by PZ Myers about the Kansas evolution “debates”.
There is a geological formation in Kansas called the Niobrara Chalk. Actually, it’s not just in Kansas; it extends all the way up into Canada, but the Niobrara has been exposed by erosion over much of northwestern Kansas, making it easy to [...]

Stand Up

May 13th, 2005 · Comments Off · Music

My copy of Dave Matthews Band’s new album, “Stand Up” arrived today. Even though the label said it’s copy protected, I was able to import it into iTunes with no problems. Except for a few songs, I don’t care for this album too much. This album sounds very different from their usual style, although “Hello [...]

Here’s the cover art for Jimi’s album, which I made from a photo he sent me. CD Baby sold out the first 5 CDs, so I just made up more and sent them. After this I shouldn’t have to make any more CDs since I found someone who can mass produce them with the artwork.

It’s not about Religion

May 12th, 2005 · Comments Off · News and Politics

Via morons.org:

Once again the Republicans play the religion card, and once
again the Democrats are silent…
It’s not about religion. That’s what the Democrats ought to be
screaming and shouting on every morning news show and every
evening cable news program. Opposition to judges like Priscilla
Owen is not about her religion. It’s about her extremism.
It’s about her judicial [...]

This is hilarious and accurate:
DOORS: Do not allow any closed doors in any room. To get door open, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an “outside” door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. [...]

Dashboard

Am I the only one who likes Dashboard the way it works now? I’ve seen a lot of criticism about the widgets being on a separate screen rather than being visible all the time like Konfabulator. Well, that’s exactly why I like Dashboard and why I didn’t use Konfabulator or any similar utilities. I hate [...]

A bigger threat than Al Qaeda?

Pat Robertson: Federal judges are a more serious threat to America than Al Qaeda and the Sept. 11 terrorists.
